About Ariel Belloso

Ariel Belloso is a writer who transformed his health through the power of raw food. The former DJ and music producer's life changed forever in 2001, when his mother was diagnosed with leukaemia. Already a keen nutrition researcher, Ariel calculated that eating a raw, plant based diet could help his mother overcome her cancer. This became his motivation to learn more about natural health and the raw food lifestyle. Following her son's advice, not only did Ariel’s mother beat her cancer, she recently celebrated her 85th birthday! Using the knowledge gained from his years of ongoing study into natural health, Ariel has also managed to overcome several serious health issues himself, as well as helping many others regain their health and improve their quality of life. Ariel has written 5 books on the subject of natural health, nutrition, and fitness.

The 20% That Leads to 80% of the Results

In my previous article, I talked about the numerous health practices, which in my opinion don’t matter in the big picture. In some cases, they may even be detrimental.

Too often, we seek short-term or “miraculous” solutions. But it’s the accumulation of regular health practices that matter most.

Here are my top items:

– Eat plant-based! There is […]

Why I Don’t Colon Cleanse or Eat Exclusively Organic

It’s not unusual for me to receive questions like:

Do you recommend any homemade toothpaste recipes? Or

It is very difficult to find organic food in South Africa; do I have to eat 100% organic?

What do you think of activated coconut carbon/ charcoal as a water filter?

These are valid concerns for people who want to embark on […]

Getting Healthy Inside a Profoundly Sick Society

Science is a collective and cumulative process of assessing evidence that leads to increasingly accurate and trustworthy information.

We value science as a society because through the application of scientific knowledge, we help satisfy many basic human needs and improve living standards.

However, when it comes to the science of health, it seems that the only real […]

  • I'd Rather Die than Become Vegan

I’d Rather Die than Become Vegan

All too often, people fail to act in their own long-term interest, favouring present pleasure and using illogical statements to justify their decisions.

For instance, I’ve had people tell me they admire how I eat, but they say: “Ariel, I’d rather shave a decade off my lifespan and keep eating my meat.”

All too often I hear […]

Why I Don’t Miss Restaurants

I have never been a big fan of restaurants, perhaps because I realized early that food prepared at home was always fresher and healthier than eating out.

However, my all-time favourite restaurant – this was during my DJ years and before I discovered the raw food diet – was a small vegetarian restaurant in London called […]

Why is Refined Sugar So Unhealthy?

I received a question on the subject of refined sugars from one of my readers. This is what Joanna had to say:

“Hi Ariel.

Could you help me to better understand the harms of consuming refined sugar?

I appreciate your help on this matter. Thank you very much!”

My answer:

Sugar, or in our case, glucose, is the preferred fuel […]

Don’t Fall for the “Superfoods” Propaganda

About twenty years ago, a new phrase changed the world of nutrition for the worse: superfoods. A cookbook published in the 1990s, entitled Superfoods, written by Michael Van Straten, was considered responsible for the invention of the term.

Even now, many people are still obsessed with the discovery of new superfoods in their various forms, be […]

About 655,000 Americans die each year from heart disease – that’s 1 […]

Can You Be An Unhealthy Vegan?

Vegan foods and plant-based diets are all the rage these days. Even eating oil-free WFPB (Whole Food Plant Based) seem to be on the rise, which in itself is a good thing, but people still can face major health challenges, even on low-fat diets.

I received a message from one of my readers. Sue writes:

Hi Ariel
