The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major effect on our lives. Many of us are facing challenges that are stressful, overwhelming, and cause strong emotions.
I had Covid in 2020, and even though I had 12 days with a fever and other symptoms, I managed to overcome the disease and get back to normal pretty quickly.
While I was sick with Covid, I used water fasting to help me through it. The practice of fasting is powerful, not only to help overcome illness, but also to deal with stress and anxiety.
Through fasting, our minds become clearer and one’s ability to think and solve intricate problems is enhanced. Fasting will empower and help you lose weight while restoring your overall health.
The older I get, the more I recognise the importance of exercise when it comes to achieving optimal health and preventing and overcoming disease, which also applies to Covid-19. There was an interesting article in the BBC, published at the beginning of the pandemic, in which the doctors themselves stated, “People should prepare to fight the coronavirus as they would prepare for surgery, by keeping fit and healthy.”
The key to getting the most out of your exercise routine is to train hard and focus on “intensity”, not just “frequency”. Cardio is a good start, but it’s also important to join a gym and lift weights if you can.
In terms of diet, increasing your fruit intake is one of the best ways to overcome cravings and anxiety. Green smoothies can also be refreshing and alkalising.
If you don’t want to eat 100% raw and have the urge to eat cooked junk food (we’ve all been there), try eating plain popcorn, it’s one of the least harmful cooked foods you can eat and will satiate your cravings pretty quickly.
