Since I started my journey into raw foods I have noticed something quite unique… I thought everyone eating the same low fat, raw food diet will follow a similar standard of meals, but that turned out not to be the case. People have very different approaches on how they eat.
On one hand, I see people eating big bowls of fresh fruit mixed with celery, cucumber and other greens (all minimally combined) which doesn’t really appeal to me; and at the other extreme, I see folks eating complicated recipes with a long list of ingredients that takes AGES to prepare; some of them even dehydrate salad dressings.
I mean… hello? You really need to have a lot of time in your hands to spend 3 hours dehydrating a single salad dressing. It’s OK if you are a raw food chef and this is your job, but I don’t believe it’s a practical approach for most people.
At the same time, I keep reading of people failing to eat raw (or mostly raw); and I wonder whether their approach has something to do with it?
One thing is for certain though; you really need to love your food to be successful on any diet; and I do LOVE my food. Even If I was going to die tomorrow, I’d still be eating the same raw food diet I eat today, and even more so.
Maybe by looking at what I eat on an average day, you’ll find you agree that my food looks tasty.
Breakfast / Lunch
My “breakfast” is usually my lunch; my first meal today was cold, freshly squeezed orange juice.
I don’t drink orange juice fast, like I do when I drink water; I sip slowly to make sure the fruit pre-digests well in my mouth. This is important in order to avoid feeling bloated.

Straight after the juice, I eat two medium to large Brazilian papayas.

Lunch
My savoury lunch today was a raw vegan Caesar salad. I love eating delicious and simple savoury lunches – which doesn’t long to make.
The Caesar salad dressing was “homemade” by the way, which I prepare in advance and keep in the fridge ready for use for 4 to 5 days. My salad dressings are oil and vinegar free; and naturally free of preservatives and chemicals, which means my digestion runs smoothly and doesn’t make me sick.
My meals aren’t complicated, but they are super tasty. That’s why I created many of my books, including my salad dressing recipe eBook, which contains only delicious, oil-free salad dressing recipes.

Straight after my savoury lunch, I would eat a sweet snack which is usually made of 4 to 5 dates, or some dried fruit; such as 1 heaped tablespoon of raisins, currants, or sultanas, 1 tablespoon of mixed fruit, 2 figs, 3 prunes, or 1 handful of dried banana chips, to give you an idea.

Snacks
For the rest of the day and before dinner, I would eat more fruit if I do feel hungry: peaches, melons, grapes, mangoes, pineapple, figs or whatever I have in the fridge at the time. I would eat as much fruit as I like to keep me satisfied.

Dinner
Today’s dinner was raw vegan tortilla wraps filled with ‘meat’ balls, veggies and avocado; this meal tastes as good as it looks.
It’s all raw, vegan, and oil free. ‘Meat’ balls are made using Portobello mushrooms, walnuts, onions, and various spices. Truly delicious!

Dessert
I love desserts, and raw vegan desserts are the best because you can eat as much of it as you like; and never get ill. No more guilt after eating commercial ice cream or biscuits.
I have been experimenting lately with raw vegan ice cream sandwiches; they are delicious! You can keep them in the freezer, ready to eat, for weeks at the time, which makes them really convenient.

It’s difficult for me to crave the wrong foods because I feel I get the best of both worlds: my food taste awesome and it’s super healthy.
