Eating Raw While Travelling (Favourite Recipe)

I took a holiday break recently and went to Pinamar.

Pinamar is a beautiful seaside town located on Argentina’s Atlantic coast in the province of Buenos Aires. Its known for its distinctive architecture, with houses set in open gardens, and surrounding pine forests. Beaches run the length of the waterfront.

I had a tranquil time and enjoyed dipping into the sea a lot. I always love the “fury” of Argentinean beaches, they can be a windy but beautiful still.

When it comes to eating out, things can be tricky because you’ll not find any raw food restaurants (or vegan for that matter) in this city.

Do you know what it’s like to be a raw foodist on the road? Finding fresh fruit is never a big deal because fresh fruit available pretty much everywhere, and similar be said about leafy greens; for the most part, every restaurant would serve you a green salad.

I do find though that I don’t get satiated enough by eating only fruits and greens and I desire something more substantial – especially at dinnertime.

On this trip, I found a pretty good recipe solution:

corn

  • Fresh raw corn on the cob. Just plain, nothing added.

MinimaI choice you may say? Yes, but it does the job.

I would simply shop for fresh and unpeeled corn at any supermarket or greengrocer and would eat it without much fuss (after cleaning it obviously)

The longer the corn sits off the stalk, the more the starches break down and the corn takes on a grassy flavour, so the quicker you eat it, the tastier it will be.

If I don’t feel satiated after eating 3 ears of fresh corn for my dinner, I add some fresh tomatoes to add something salty to my meal and I’d be done for the evening.

I found this to be a great answer to eating raw while travelling because:

  • It satiates my desire of a savoury dinner.
  • It’s convenient
  • It’s tasty
  • It’s low in fat
  • It’s cheap
  • It’s clean and wouldn’t mess up my hotel room.

Wonderful solution!
